The Department of Medical and Surgical Specialties, Radiological Sciences, and Public Health (DSMC) encompasses Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine, Public Health Medicine in addition to the medical specialties of Cardiology, Nephrology and Medical Oncology. It also embodies Audiology, Dentistry, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, and Nuclear Medicine in addition to several surgical specialties including Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Urology.
The three principal objectives of this newly formed Department comprise:
This will lead to a substantial refinement in the evaluation and prevention of professional and environmental risk factors, diagnostic algorithmic processes, and therapeutic strategies for different acute and chronic diseases (oncologic and non-oncologic). It will also include an evaluation of the ensuing disabilities after treatment, assessment of patient’s social integration, and guidelines for follow-up. This will result in improvement of overall health care and, in general, life-style and environment.
