Educational goals:

The goal of the Course in Biotechnologies is to educate a professional with a solid basic background in the biomedical-molecular field, as well as to provide the graduate with the skills needed to use modern communications technologies. Attention will also be paid to the economic and management, patent and bioethical issues involved in these technologies. Acquisition of these skills will furnish the graduate with a biotechnological training introductory to the extension of his or her knowledge, through attendance of a Master Degree and/or updating during his or her professional life, and will also allow for direct entry into employment in the biotechnological field.

Employment opportunities:

The outlook for employment for those who graduate in this Course lies mainly in:

  • Offices of the National Health Care System, Hospitals;
  • Specialized clinical analysis laboratories, public and private;
  • Experimental Veterinary Preventive Medicine Institutes;
  • Universities and other Public and Private Research Institutes and Agencies;
  • Research and development centres for biotechnological products in the health care, medical, veterinary, food and agriculture and environmental protection fields;
  • Biotechnological service centres in the health care, medical, veterinary, food and agriculture and environmental protection fields;
  • Agencies assigned to develop health care or patent regulations concerning the exploitation of biotechnological products.
