Why study Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Brescia?
  • The Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Mechanical and Materials Engineering provides students with a sound basic background in Mechanical and Materials Engineering.

  • It has two curricula which complete the students' education with more specialist skills: a Mechanics curriculum, which furthers knowledge of IT systems for mechanical design and examines techniques and procedures for mechanical, thermal and electronic measurements, and a Materials curriculum, which looks more closely at the specific properties of materials and the technologies for processing and transforming them into finished products.

Graduates in Mechanical and Materials Engineering easily find a job in the various fields of the manufacturing and processing industry: mechanical and electromechanical companies, iron and steel and metalworking businesses, rubber and plastic materials sector, energy conversion companies and organisations, plant engineering companies, automation and robotics sector, enterprises involved in manufacturing, installing, testing, servicing and running production machines, lines and departments. Graduates can take on many different tasks in a company: taking part in product and process design, developing new products and technologies, fine-tuning technological cycles for the manufacturing of industrial items, running production plants, installing and testing machinery and systems, maintenance and management of production departments, as well as control, checking and technical service activities; testing and measurements in Research & Development departments and laboratories. In addition to the production and services sector, graduates can find work with engineering firms, in the technical offices of public and private companies, with public administrations and local government agencies, as well as research organisations.
They can take the examination to enter the Register of Engineers for the industrial section.
