Why study Midwifery at the University of Brescia?
  • Training of midwifes is a consolidated tradition in our city and province; the School of Midwifery, annexed to the Spedali Civili Hospital of Brescia, opened in 1956. Then, due to multiple reforms of the university system, it was converted into a University diploma in 1996, and then in a Bachelor's Degree Programme in Midwifery.

  • As well as attending lessons, which is mandatory, students shall acquire specific professional knowledge and skills in the areas of midwifery, gynaecology and new-born care.

  • To this end, students are required to take an on-the-job clinical internship at the healthcare facilities identified by the Study Programme Council, for a pre-determined period and up to achieving all the university credits established in the Study Plan.

  • Choosing the University of Brescia means counting on competent teaching staff, highly motivated and qualified for the technical and practical training for obstetrics; it means a learning experience that ensures contact with different healthcare and professional models, both in hospitals and local facilities. Students can even experience training abroad.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Midwifery graduates can carry out their professional role in public (local health authorities, hospitals) or private (clinics, nursing homes), as employees or self-employed professionals.
