Admission to degree programmes (three year) and single-cycle Master's degree programmes

Non-EU candidates residing in Italy have to submit the application for enrolment directly to the University of Brescia. They are admitted to degree programmes and single-cycle Master's degree programmes without quota limitations and without having to take the italian language test.

Candidates are considered non-EU students residing in Italy if they (alternatively):

  • have a residence permit for non-seasonal work
  • have a residence permit for family or religious or political or humanitarian or other special reasons mentioned in the Legislative Decree no. 286, 25 July 1998, and subsequent amendments thereto
  • have been awarded their upper secondary school diploma at italian institutes abroad
  • have achieved their upper secondary school diploma at foreign or international institutes located in Italy or abroad, that are mentioned in bilateral agreements or specific regulations referred to qualifications recognition; those candidates will be enrolled only if they will meet the general requirements for admission

The regulations and provisions of the Ministry of Education, University and Research are published at the link http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/. We refer you to these provisions for all information.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Admission to a Degree programme or single-cycle Master's degree programme requires possession of an upper secondary school diploma, or another equivalent qualification obtained abroad and recognised as suitable for accessing the chosen university programme.

The student must have achieved the qualification after at least 12 years of schooling. Moreover they must have attended at least two years in the foreign educational system that awarded the school diploma (without prejudice to bilateral agreements currently in force).

In the event that the total number of years is below 12, before enrolling in Italy, the student must hold:

  • if the educational system followed requires 11 years: certificate to confirm passing of the exams of the first year of university; or an official qualification in a similar subject to the university programme chosen, achieved after a year at an Italian or foreign post-secondary institute; or a certification issued by an Italian university to confirm passing of preparatory programmes (foundation course)
  • if the educational system followed requires 10 years: certificate to confirm passing of the exams of the first year and second of university; or an official qualification in a similar subject to the university programme chosen, achieved after two years at an Italian or foreign post-secondary institute; or a certification issued by an Italian university to confirm passing of preparatory programmes (foundation course)

The suitability of the additional study periods is assessed by the university for the purposes of admission to the chosen university programme. In Italy additional study periods only enable enrolment to the first year, it is not possible to request recognition of the exams taken to shorten the programme.

2. The student must have passed the academic eligibility test if required in the country of origin (Selectividad in Spain, Prova de Aferiçao or Prova Geral de Acesso ao Ensino Superior in Portugal, etc..).

Admission to the university is only permitted if the documentation certifying possession of the requirements is valid, as required by current regulations and the specific provisions of the Ministry of Education, University and Research.

ADMISSION TEST

All degree programmes and single-cycle Master's degree programmes at the University of Brescia require an admission test, indicative for some and selective for others, which is taken in the months of September and October. Participation in the test is mandatory.
