At the end of the course, the student is expected to have basic knowledge on how a company operates, and of its balance sheet. Students will acquire the competence to carry out an investment evaluation, with particular reference to the typical application areas of civil and environmental engineering, and to develop a business plan. Moreover, the students will acquire knowledge on the basic principles of project management and the main techniques.
The course is structured in two parts. The fist part deals with the classification of costs, and the illustration and application of investment analysis techniques, and provides students with theoretical foundations and analytical methods. It also introduces to the financial statement of a company. The second part is devoted to project management, illustrating theoretical aspects and application techniques The course will continuously refer to real cases so to help students applying the concepts explained
