Main objective of the course is the demonstration how town and regional planning can influence risk.
The general contents are:Relation between land, natural resources and anthropic pressures; main concepts of environmental sustainability; definitions of risk, hazard, vulnerability and exposition; - main principles of the process of town and regional planning; - risk perception: socially acceptable level of risk; risk mitigation policies and the human component of risk; the main natural catastrophic phenomena and the relation with planning; basic international (European) legislation references.
