Basic knowledge of microeconomics is required
Knowledge of new development in Labour Economics theories and updated information on labour market functioning. The course also intends to provide an updated picture of the labor market in Italy and in the OECD countries. It is mainly based on the text "Labour Economics" and the slides and the material are provided by the teacher.
The course deals with the classic topics of the Labor Economy: labor demand and supply, education and human capital, immigration and its dynamics, unemployment. The theoretical part is accompanied by examples concerning the evolution of the labor market in the main OECD countries. Recent developments of problems such as social spending, institutional innovations of labor market laws and wage bargaining are discussed.

The exam consists of a written test based on exercises and theory questions. The knowledge and comprehension skills will be assessed with two or three open questions and by one or two exercises that provide an answer aimed at verifying the actual knowledge of the concepts and principles covered. The ability to communicate, the ability to apply the knowledge acquired through appropriate arguments and reflections and the autonomy of judgment will be ascertained through the correction of the exams. One or more questions will also be introduced on topical issues on which the student will have to express his / her own judgments, assessments and opinions in order to understand not only the notions learned but also the ownership of language, the ability to communicate and to argue. The learning ability will be assessed on the basis of a transversal evaluation with respect to the answers provided to the various verification questions. The duration of the exam is one and a half hours.
