The course aims at giving tools for planning and controlling company’s strategy, developing the ability of strategic planning and internal control systems’ management according with a systemic and sustainability approach.
Knowledge and understanding. The course aims at giving students a framework, usable in different scenarios and useful to design the strategy process. These abilities will be achieved by means of lectures, discussions of case study, team work, seminars, and individual study.
Applying knowledge and understanding. The course aims at encouraging students in the identification and management of strategic opportunities and risks with a critical attitude. Furthermore, the course encourages the ability to analyse and interpret internal and external phenomenon and the correlate effects on business management, and the ability to apply the adequate strategic tools. Discussion of case study and individual project work have the aim to promote the achievement of these skills.
Making judgements. Students should acquire the ability to deal with matters about strategy in a rigorous way and using the appropriate language. This aim will be achieved by various didactic tools as the critical analysis of case studies, works in group, project works and continuous interaction with professor and classroom.
Communication. Students should acquire the ability to develop and communicate information and notions about strategy and strategic control in clear and coherent way for both specialist and not specialist interlocutors. These skills will be assessed with oral presentations during the lessons, and during the final exam (attending students should be able to prepare and discuss their individual project work, and the not attending student to argue with the professor about strategic issues)
Lifelong learning skills. The course aims at helping students to mature their ability to autonomously extend and explore the acquired knowledge because of specific needs in changing scenarios. This is important both to continue the third level university studies and to work in the areas of management and control. These skills are achieved by means of individual study and the planning of individual and group projects.
The course is a distinctive course of the master degree in “Business Consultancy and Training for Professionals”, curriculum “Management Control”. In order to meet the educational goals of this master degree, the course improves the ability to deal with external and companies’ phenomenon and develops tools supporting business management. Furthermore, the course connects into system the knowledges already acquired by students with regard business management.
The course is voluntary for the students enrolled in curriculum “Training for Professionals” and other master degrees. In particular, considering the specific educational goals, the course:
-supports students of curriculum “Training for Professionals” in the acquisition of knowledges and abilities useful for consultancy activities in strategic matters;
-supports students of “Management” having a multidisciplinary approach in the decision-making of top corporate positions;
-deepens the risk management processes according with a strategic approach for students of “Money, Finance and Risk Management”
