Knowledge and understanding
The course is focused on the most important aspects of the extraordinary financial operations in order to determine their role in the creation of shareholder value. Particular attention is paid to equity operations, M&A and corporate restructuring operations.
Such knowledge and understanding are achieved by lectures and analysis of case studies through group activities or individual research and personal study (directed or independent).
Applying knowledge and understanding
The course will provide theoretical knowledge and practical capabilities useful to take financial decisions in M&A and corporate restructuring operations in a complex, uncertain and constantly evolving environment, determining their role in the creation of shareholder value.
In order to promote the development of applying knowledge, in addition to the lectures case studies will be discussed as well as topical issues relating to the subjects analysed.
Test of whether the expected outcome in applying knowledge is achieved requires the performance of specific tasks during the exams, where student is expected to demonstrate mastery of scientific language, tools and methodologies as well as critical autonomy.
Making judgements
By the end of the course students will be able to use the knowledge acquired in order to deal fully autonomously with the evaluation problems concerning financing decisions to be assumed on the occasion of extraordinary business operations under conditions of uncertainty. They also will be able to develop a critical analysis of the aspects of those decisions more capable of influencing the value of the firm.
Communication skills
By the end of the course students will be able to communicate and interact, effectively and appropriately, with chief administrative and financial officers, managing directors, financial intermediaries, public accountants and financial consultancy firms about complex issues concerning major financial operations.
Communication skills are developed especially during training activities which consist of preparation and presentation of written reports or documents. These skills will be verified as part of the final assessment of all training activities.
Learning skills
Through theoretical and business cases students will develop the ability to broaden, update and deepen the acquired knowledge in an independent way, applying it in a professional manner.
Leaning skills are assessed on an ongoing basis during all the training activities carried out in the course.
