Written exam followed by an optional oral test, to be given in the same session, aimed to check the achievement of the goals of the teaching.
The evaluation of the written and oral exam is expressed in thirtieths.
During the written test the use of the calculator and the use of books and exercises is not allowed. If necessary for the performance of particular exercises the teacher will provide auxiliary material (for example formulas).
The written test is divided into two parts, a part of exercises and a part of theoretical questions.
The written exercises will have a level of difficulty not greater than the level of the exercises performed in the classroom during the exercises.
The part of the exercises is organized as follows: there are three closed-ended exercises chosen from among the various topics of the course and a function study to be carried out in a complete way, drawing the final graph of the function. The closed-answer exercises are worth 4 points each, the 6-point function. In total the part of exercises is worth 18 points if done correctly.
The theory part consists of three questions chosen among definitions, statements of theorems and proofs. Each question is worth 4 points. If carried out correctly the theory test is worth a total of 12 points.
The student who, adding the results obtained in the two parts of the written test, obtains a grade greater than or equal to 18 has passed the exam. If the student wants to take the optional oral exam, it consists of a discussion of the theoretical foundations (definitions, theorems and proofs) related to the different topics covered during the course. If during the oral examination the teacher should verify the non-acquisition of the contents by the student, the exam will have to be repeated in its entirety (also the written test).
The final mark expressed in thirtieths is related only to the Mathematics module which is a part of the Physics and Mathematics exam. The grade of the Mathematics part will average with the grade obtained in the Physics module. Only when the student has completed the two modules will he find his final recorded which will result in the average of the marks obtained in the two modules. To obtain the verbalization of the exam at this point the student will have to enroll in the final registration appeal activated through the esse3 platform by Prof. Giovanna Longhi responsible for the course.
