The course is divided in 2 modules:
- Mechanical metallurgy
- Light alloys
Concerning the Mechanical metallurgy module, it is focused on the study of the damage phenomena which can give rise to failures of mechanical devices in service. The most recent theories able to predict and describe the failures are presented especially in reference to fracture mechanics, creep, corrosion and wear.
For what concerns the Light alloys Module, the different non ferrous alloys (Al, Mg, Ti) will be explained, from the ores extraction, recycling, mechanical properties, alloying to manufacturing, applications and properties, focusing on the topic of reducing the weight of vehicles.
