Educational Goals

At the end of the course, the student will be able to plan the therapeutic treatment of oral hygiene and plan the treatment, remove and control every soft or mineralized deposit both above and subgingival. The student will be able to prevent, control and reduce the dental pathologies in different clinical situations.

Content

Application techniques, protocols and indications for:
- non-surgical periodontal therapy treatment
- Airpolishing: technique and protocols
- management of the patient with prosthesis

Extended Syllabus

application techniques, protocols and indications as follows:
NON-SURGICAL PERIODONTHAL THERAPY:
- the goals of non-surgical therapy - advantages / disadvantages / limitations / effectiveness
- ultrasound action mechanism
- variables of ultrasound efficacy
- types of inserts and their use
- how different setting parameters and different inserts can influence the effectiveness and the final result of the therapy.
- What damage can be caused by incorrect use of mechanical instruments.
- Analysis of parameters and insertions of mechanical instrumentation based on different clinical situations.
- Mechanical instrumentation techniques: grip principles, fulcrum, adaptation, angle, lateral pressure and movement.
AIPOLISHING: technique and clinical protocols
MANAGEMENT OF THE PATIENT WITH MOBILE AND FIXED PROSTHESIS: Professional and home clinical protocols

Written test.
The test will be divided into a series of open-ended questions with a predefined response space and a series of multiple-choice questions. . The total points will be composed on the questions
present in the test for importance and extension and announced during the exam. the final score will be given by the sum of the partial scores.
The exam is aimed at ascertaining the knowledge of the topics listed in the Extended Program of the module and the ability to apply the theory and its methods to the solution of clinical cases.
