Good command of general English at Intermediate/upper intermediate B1/B2 LEVEL

Educational Goals

At the end of the course, students’ level, in oral comprehension and oral and written production of the English language, is expected to be higher than the initial level, and students will be able to approach their profession with greater confidence and command of the language.

Content

Brief introduction to the mechanisms of the English language in order to master the syntax for oral and written production; practice and related exercises will be carried out in case of difficulty. Individual reading aloud of scientific articles to overcome the obstacles in pronunciation, to increase the speed and fluency of words, and to work on stress and intonation. Learning to listen. Definitions and description of the professional role. Acquisition of the medical-scientific lexicon, with related phrasal verbs. Specific human anatomy: reproductive organs. Communication between the professional and the patient. Pregnancy, delivery, puerperium. Maternal-neonatal assistance. Interactive reading and discussion of the most significant issues. Individual presentations of scientific topics with personal comments.
