Building Physics
The course allows the students to manage the main building physics principles to enable the design to achieve low and nZEB buildings. The Focuses will be: User centered design; Envelope design; Energy efficiency.
Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the EU and the European Council emphasized the need to increase to energy efficiency in the Union so as to Achieve the objective of reducing by 20% the Union's energy consumption by 2020. The aim of the course is to manage the main building physics principles governing the energy efficiency of nearly and net zero energy buildings. Particular attention will be given to the analysis of the building envelope. The Focuses will be: User centered design; Envelope design; Energy efficiency. During the course, the students, will follow the lectures, will work in groups and will have exercises and design reviews to learn how to design, calculate and compare design options to promote an efficient and user centric project at building scale considering also the built and natural environment.

Daylighting evaluation, Simulation method 10. Project review 11. 2 step Public presentation
