Knowledge and understanding
Firstly, the course aims to provide -with a prevailing interdisciplinary
approach- a conceptual framework that explains how socio-economic,
socio-cognitive and cultural factors contribute to the explaining of
innovative processes. Secondly, the course will focus on the concept of
radical innovation, illustrating successful business cases and showing
how the relationships between the company and its interlocutors are
fundamental for: introducing new products, creating new markets or
business models and anticipating the consumers’ needs with solutions
that may change their way of life. Furthermore, the course aims to
provide introductory and practical indications concerning the
management of innovative projects. Students should be able to (i)
understand the link between the theoretical interpretative frameworks
and the research results discussed during the classes, and (ii) apply these
concepts by elaborating an original project work.
Applying knowledge and understanding
Students must be able to support and discuss clearly, through
appropriate arguments, the topics which have been discussed during the
course. Students are expected to apply sociological interpretative keys to
concrete innovation issues, business cases and original projects. The
ability to apply theoretical notions to unfamiliar contexts with an
interdisciplinary perspective will be pivotal.
Making judgements
At the end of the course, students are expected to develop an analytical
and autonomous capacity to interpret innovation issues by linking crossdisciplinary
arguments and heterogeneous information sources.
Communication skills
The students must be able to communicate effectively with various
interlocutors and discuss on the course’s topics with their colleagues, the
lecturer and any person involved in the training activity.
Learning skills
Students must have developed an efficient method of study, which will
allow them to elaborate independently on complex and in-depth
information. In addition, students are expected to work and collaborate in
groups, developing learning and cooperative skills.
