M. Foley, D. Hall, My Grammar Lab Intermediate. Pearson, Essex 2012 (ISBN: 978-1408299159) (grammar textbook, to be used also for the compulsory ‘Lingua Inglese 9 cfu’ course)
One three-hour face-to-face lesson as an introduction will come before the start of the ‘Lingua Inglese 9 cfu’ course (on September 7th, for the three groups AD, EN, OZ), followed by 20-hour tutorships from half September to the beginning of November, aimed at reinforcing written and oral communication skills.
The tutorships will be dedicated to practicing written and oral comprehension and production skills at an A2/B1 level (grammar revision and focus on specific lexis, revision of English phonetics, prosody, rhythm). The aim of the tutorships is to reinforce students’ ability to independently comprehend and produce written and oral texts starting from a given prompt/starting point (level A2/B1). Moreover, if necessary they individually teach the correct methods to acquire the required mastery over professional communication in the business field at an A2/B1 level.
The activity is assessed at the end of the course by means of a final computerized test with multiple choice, or true and false, closed questions. The written test is compulsory for all the students who had a negative mark at their ‘entry test’ (test orientativo per le matricole’) and aims at assessing students’ written comprehension/production and oral comprehension (A2/B1 level)
No final mark is given, as it is not required by internal departmental regulation. Nevertheless, a feedback is send:
1. to the candidate, as a self-evaluation aid;
2. to the teacher, as a feedback of his/her teaching activity.
In case of negative feedback however, the student is suggested to ask for further support to the teacher.
