The course is aimed to teach how to interpret juridical texts, by means of codes, special laws, specialized literature, and how to present a juridical problem in a clear and persuasive way.
The teaching is aimed to provide students with the consciousness of the issues concerning the citizenship, by viewing it in a historical perspective.
Part I (30 hours)
• Introduction.
• The idea of citizenship at present days.
• Citizenship in ancient Rome: civitas.
• The problems of the citizenship in Roman monarchy and republic.
Part II (10 hours)
• The idea of citizenship in Cicero's Pro Archia: legal and political aspects.
• The idea of citizenship in Cicero's Pro Balbo: legal and political aspects.
• The idea of citizenship in Cicero's Pro Caecina: legal and political aspects.
• Conclusion.
