The exam is aimed at verifying the knowledge of the topics listed in the official Program of the Course and the ability to apply the theory and its methods to the solution of exercises.
For each student, the exam consists of a written part and a subsequent oral part (not mandatory only for students who take the tests in itinere, as specified in the section PROVE IN ITINERE). The evaluations of the writings and the oral ones are expressed in thirtieths. The final grade is determined taking into account both the written and oral tests.
WRITTEN PART: a vote of less than 16/30 is considered not sufficient. During the writing, books of any kind or course notes can not be brought to the classroom. The use of a non-programmable calculator is allowed. The teacher provides the periodic table to each student. The writing is divided into extended questions. Mainly they are structured exercises, but they can partly be questions regarding aspects of the theory discussed during the course. Many examples of the written tests proposed in recent years (with related solutions) are on the MOODLE page of the course. The writing can be done either on the Moodle platform or in traditional mode.
ORAL PART: to access the oral part students must report a vote of the major or equal to 16/30. The oral exam is considered sufficient with a score of at least 18/30. To pass the exam, the final grade, which takes into account the written and oral scores, must however be greater than or equal to 18/30. The oral will mainly be aimed at ascertaining an adequate knowledge of the theory discussed in the course and may include the discussion of the written paper.
For students attending the exam grade can be purchased through two tests in itinere.
TESTS IN ITINERE: The tests in itinere (generally they are two, one in the middle of the course and the second one at the end of the course) focus on the entire program and are recommended, but not mandatory. They are reserved for students who have participated in online activities (activities that take place on the Moodle platform and consist, as well as the supply of lesson slides, watching videos, animations and other educational material, proposals for simulated cases, quizzes of self-learning and verification, other activities) and exercises during the year. To access the first test in progress the first year students must register. Students of years above the first, to register, must demonstrate that they follow the online activities proposed. All students who pass the first test are automatically admitted to the second test. The in itinere tests include both simple numerical exercises and theoretical questions, and can be multiple-choice or open-ended (similar activities, in preparation for the tests, are proposed on the Moodle platform). During the tests, books of any kind or course notes can not be brought to the classroom. The use of a non-programmable calculator is allowed. The teacher provides the periodic table to each student. In each test the questions are about 30. The passing of the tests in itinere (in each test must be obtained a vote greater than or equal to 16/30 and the average of the tests must be greater than or equal to 18/30) allows the student to choose whether to complete the vote with an oral test or to accept the overall assessment as an exam mark. The ongoing tests are carried out on the Moodle platform.
Examples of resolved examination are available on the MOODLE platform.
