Educational Goals

The aims of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of biochemistry needed to understand the biochemical mechanisms that underlie life processes and associated metabolic activity, as well as pathological processes which focuses on the rehabilitation.

Content

The biochemical study of cells: the molecular logic of life; Structure and function of macromolecules: lipids, carbohydrates and proteins. Structural organization of proteins: examples of correlations between structure and function of proteins; Notes on enzymatic activity; basics of metabolism; Structure and function of membranes; Cell communication; Hormones.

Assessment Methods

Joint examination:Biology, Biochemistry, General and Medical Genetics. Assessment will be by written or oral exam. It is up to the student who has passed the written test support an eventual oral test. In general terms, the written test includes open-ended questions or multiple choice questions. The written examination is passed if the student obtains a passing score in all subjects of the course. In case of failure, the student must take a new exam in a new session.
