The aim of this course is to teach some laboratory methodologies and to give the necessary information to understand the proposed experiments. This course will be divided in lectures and laboratories. The laboratory experiment will be introduced together with the equipments used. The physics fundamental working principles of the instrumentations will be presented. Afterwards the students, divided in small groups (4-5), will have to perform the experiments and use all the equipments themselves. The experimental work will comprise the realisation of the final experiment and the possible design of small parts of components not available.
It consists in lectures explaining the physics behind the experiments and in the experiments that the students will have to make during the course.
• Observation of the electrons diffraction on polycrystalline graphite and confirmation of the wave nature of electrons • Thomson experiment • Perrin experiment • Experiments with magnetic fields
Lecture's slides and experiments descriptions
The lessons are divided in two parts: one with the theory and the other with exercises. Slides of the course will be provided.
Report of the laboratory experiments submitted two weeks after the end of the specific experiment. Examination on the published call.
