Logistics concerns the movement and stocking of materials and products. Supply chain management studies the logistic problems of a company in relation with its suppliers and customers, and aims at the global optimization of the overall system. The course includes an introduction to logistic problems and to supply chain management, and aims at an enhanced understanding of the following topics and related decision support models: supply contracts, demand forecasting (preliminary to planning of procurement, stocking, distribution activities), network design and location problems (warehouses, distribution centers, factories), transportation, bullwhip effect and the value of information.
