First part: written exam (mid-term exam for students attending classes)
Two theoretical questions and two exercises. For the exercises, students are asked to use estimation results, to interpret them and to use them to run hypothesis tests. For students attending classes, empirical weekly homework - assigned during the teaching period, ans submitted by the students by the due deadlines - can contribute up to 1/3 of the marks of the assessment of the firs part.
Second part: project work. A project is agreed with the students, using real data and the techniques taught in the second part of the course. The oral discussion of the project will take into account the ability to link the application to the contents of the course, the knowledge of the techniques and eventually the ad hoc code implemented by the students.
The overall final marks is the simple mean of the marks of the two parts.
Please notice that the project work compulsory and it is required also to students who do not attend classes.
