In the acquisition module (3 CFU) the different platforms for the acquisition of such data are studied and the main detection techniques currently in use are considered - from electro-optical systems, to radar and lidar - studying their physical fundations.
In the processing module (6CFU) students with a background in image processing will have the opportunity to deal with new types of visual data (multi-and hyper-spectral, data from 3D scanners) and to learn data processing technologies dedicated to Remote Sensing as well as general purpose techniques, such as supervised and unsupervised classification and 3D point clouds handling and processing. Students with background and interests related to the application scope of the course (land and environmental monitoring, analysis...) will find accessible content and the possibility to enforce their technical competence and skill with respect to the use of modern image analysis technologies for various kind of datasets coming from remote sensing platforms.
