The scope is to introduce the students to the fundamental principles of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. The focus is on the pathophysiological and clinical aspects of the cardio-circulatory, respiratory, neurological, and acid-base systems, and on clinical pharmacology in the critically ill patient. The students are introduced to the concepts of multiple organ failure, severe infection and sepsis. The course includes basic elements of the evidence-based dentistry, of the approach to the ambulatory patients with anxiety and pain, and of the use of devices of common application in the specialty field.
