In order to provide students with the methodological and operational tools, process and design activities will learn from a concrete example: the project of a residence for university students. The design process will be analyzed through a multidisciplinary approach from functional program, identifying the decision-making conditions, needs, constraints, until the definition of the technological details.
The building will be analyzed as a technological system. Based on the review of the products and/or materials available for the realization of building elements and on the technological analysis of individual structural elements (foundations, horizontal and vertical structures, opaque and transparent curtain walling) will discuss the functional models and technological solutions that form the building itself.
Particular attention will be devoted to the hygrothermal behaviuor of the building both in winter according to stationary models (transmittance of the walls, thermal bridges, Glaser diagram, ...) and in summer according to dynamic models (dynamic transmittance, time leg, decrement factor,...).
Part of the course also will address the issues of the accessible design from a cultural, prescriptive and technological point of view.
During the course the students divided into groups, will face a tutorial project (plans, sections, construction details) on the design of a residence for university students. The projects will be subject to periodic audits and review by the teacher.
