It is important the knowledge of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics (Economics I and II).
The course of Macroeconomic Outlook and Policies allows students to comprehend the motivations, characteristics and effects of economic policy decisions in a global context. On the basis of the key economic models, the students will analyze and discuss the issues concerning the world economy, the European institutions and policies, the Italian economy.
Economic policies: macroeconomic and structural policies; objectives and instruments; monetary and fiscal policies; inflation, unemployment and growth. The world economy: economic growth in the world; the BRICs and the other emerging countries; Globalization and trends in world trade; macroeconomic and trade policies in open economies; the main international organizations: Wto, G8, G20; the financial crisis (2007-08) and the Great Recession. The European economy: economic integration in the EU, from the customs union to the Single Market; the Maastricht Treaty and the EMU; the ECB and European monetary policy; fiscal policies and sustainability of public debts; the Sovereign debt crisis and the EU response. Italian economy: slow growth and economic decline; the main structural problems; the labour market: problems and policies; the public debt burden and recent budgetary measures. Economic scenarios: discussion on the recent trends in the World, European and Italian economies, based on updated reports of national and international organizations; future outlook.

Compulsory written exam (with additional and optional oral exam). Optional mid-term exam (available for all students). Potential researches prepared and presented by students will be considered for the final grade.
The examination programme is the same for all students, attending or not attending lectures. The former students, however, can study in deep some themes during the seminars and researches.
