The course consists of 4 main sections:
1) A brief introduction to semiconductors, pn and metal-semiconductor junctions. Solid state diodes. Electrical characteristics, circuit models for large signals, and applications of these devices in simple circuits will be illustrated.
2) Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). Electrical characteristics of bipolar junction transistors, and circuit models for large and small signals will be illustrated. The behavior of these devices with large signals and the realization of single-stage amplifiers will be described.
3) Field effect transistor (MOS). Electrical characteristics of field effect transistors, and circuit models for large and small signals will be illustrated. The behavior of these devices with large signals and the realization of single-stage amplifiers will be described.
4) Operational amplifiers. Electrical characteristics of ideal operational amplifiers will be illustrated. Basic concepts of feedback. Nonidealities and real limitation of the operational amplifiers. Linear and nonlinear applications of operational amplifiers will be described and analyzed.
