We recommend building physics
At the end of the course the student will know the main physical principles to design and verify the low energy buildings. The Focuses will be: The reduction of energy consumptions; Building energy efficiency improvement; The human comfort and the indoor quality and climatic conditions;
Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions in the EU and the European Council emphasised the need to increase to energy efficiency in the Union so as to achieve the objective of reducing by 20% the Union's energy consumption by 2020. The aim of the course is to know the main physical laws governing the energy efficiency of buildings. Particular attention will be given to the analysis of the building envelope.
Classroom Slides, prepared by the professor
Lectures; Exercises in the classroom; Project to be done in the classroom and at home.
The exam will be based on the oral exposure of the course content and discussion on the work being realised.
During the course, the student, in addition to follow the lectures, should prepare: - Excel file with the application of the concepts learned; - Energy analysis and the following improvement project of a building designed by the student.
