Structural design.
The objectives of the course consist in providing professional skills in the conservative and conscious recovery of historical buildings, also taking into account the needs of the historical built under protection. In particular, the objectives are to provide students with the skills necessary to evaluate and quantify the structure's resources, also from a seismic point of view and to be able to design any minimally invasive and possibly reversible reinforcement measures.
The student investigates the themes inherent in the assessment and possible strengthening of existing structures. Particular emphasis is given to the seismic vulnerability assessment and seismic upgrading of the historic building.
- Mechanical properties of materials - Diagnostics and preliminary knowledge surveys - Wooden decks - Wooden covers - Arcs and vaults - Masonry - Foundations - Seismic vulnerability of masonry structures
