Provide the students with concepts and knowledge for the understanding of human action and of aggregate phenomena resulting from it, with particular reference to some aspects of the socio-economic reality of the contemporary world. In the same perspective, providing introductory knowledge and insights of analysis about the relationship between markets and institutions with regard to the recent crisis in the market structure.
This course will examine the development of the Sociology of Law, specifically answering the question: "how is social order possible?". The relations between law and society will be analysed using two fundamental problems of the Sociology of Law: the problem of society in law, i.e. the problem of conduct in compliance or in contrast with the regulations, which can refer to a latent law or a law in course of forming, and the problem of law in society, i.e. the problem of the function and end of law. The second part of the course will examine the liberal professions, i.e. those occupations which require individuals to be listed in specific registers held by the respective orders and/or bodies and which are regulated by Article 2229 et seq. of the Italian Civil Code ("Intellectual professions") and participants will seek to understand why Law is concerned with those professions and not with others. A case study on doctors will be analysed as exemplary of professionalising processes.
