- supply sources: types, characteristics and estimate of the available supply capacities
-estimation of the demand: water demand, consumption fluctuations, served population, sector regulations
- hydraulics of steady flows in pressurized pipes: verification problem (recalls) and design problems also hydraulically indeterminate
- conveyance systems: design and verification of supply lines, pumping stations, drainage wells
- hydraulics of unsteady flows in pressurized pipes: transient due to maneuvers, Allievi-Michaud formula, water hammer, mitigation systems
- storage tanks and their functions
- tree and closed mesh distribution network: design and verification criteria, Hardy-Cross method
- pipe material types and their choice
2. Practical hydrology: full models
- hydrological models based on the transformation of outflow inflows: linear and stationary methods (corrivation and reservoir)
- indirect statistical models (recalls)
3. Open channel flows
- hydraulics of steady flows in open channels (recalls)
- design and verification of open channels: criteria for closing the indetermination
- hydraulics of unsteady flows in open channels: De Saint Venant equations solutions (outline)
4. Sewer networks and wastewater disposal
- types and patterns of sewer networks: separated, combined and mixed networks
- design and verification of sewer pipes: criterion of the critical event
- discharge outflow control: types of conventional devices and sector regulations
- recurrent works: inspection, confluence and jump manholes, inlets and connections
- special art works: siphons, pumping stations, flushing manholes.
5. Sustainable urban drainage
- sources of point and non point pollution
- concepts of urbanization impact mitigation on the water cycle
- infiltration and storage devices: design and verification criteria for infiltration structures, first foul flush tanks and routing reservoirs
- discharge outflow control: types of innovative devices (high threshold spillways, overflow with still basin and hydrodynamic vortex separators)
