Knowledge and ability to understandThe student will be able to understand the theories explaining the causes for environmental degradation. The first part of the course in fact analyzes the causes of environmental degradation and control policies, with particular attention to the formulation of collective choices, the evaluation of environmental assets, the different regulatory methods, and the sustainable management of natural resources.Knowledge and understanding skills appliedThe student will be able to apply the theories learned to understand how the various incentives work to improve the environment in the real world. In this perspective, the numerical examples proposed will help the students to translate the theoretical models learned into usable tools.Autonomy of judgmentThe students will learn the necessary skills to discriminate between alternative models useful to interpret the evidence observed in the real world to be able to understand the impact in terms of efficiency and fairness of the environmental policy of a country. The second part of the course will also give students the opportunity to understand the relationship between business trade and the environment in order to be able to determine the best policy also at firm level.Communication skillsThe student must be able to communicate to different stakeholders, in an effective way and with an appropriate language, his own reflections and proposals on the topics covered in class. Students who decide to give an oral presentation will have the opportunity to present their own point to the rest of the class in a reasonably short time, thus also testing their synthesis skills.Ability to learn.The course will supply students with the skills to discriminate between alternative models useful for interpreting the evidence observed in the real world.The study of environmental economic assessment will provide students with the basis for evaluating themselves and making economic decisions in situations where the economy has a strong environmental impact.
