Learning goals aim at satisfying the knowledge needs related to the strategy analysis process, taking into account the change in the context conditions due to the globalization, the technology innovation, the diffusion of new business models.
Knowledge and understanding. At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand the main issues concerning strategy analysis.
In more details, the course aims at providing students the knowledge required to:
- understand and deal with basic strategy concepts;
- understand the strategy analysis framework;
- recognize and understand the relationships between strategy, competitive context, corporate governance bodies, organizational structure, management systems;
- identify the main corporate and business strategies.
The above stated goals will be achieved through face-to-face lectures, case studies discussion and individual study.
Applying knowledge and understanding. The course aims at developing the ability to:
- apply basic strategy tools and frameworks required to analyse strategy;
- deal with strategic analysis issues;
- analyse a firm’s strategy in the context of the competitive forces and the dynamics of its industry;
- analyse multifaceted problems and opportunities in complex, international corporations and to propose appropriate solutions.
The above stated goals will be achieved through plenary case study discussion.
Making judgements. At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- find, analyse and interpret appropriately useful information for the development of strategic analysis;
- select and evaluate risks and opportunities in a strategic context;
- make judgements related to the typical problems of strategic nature.
In order to develop the ability to make judgements, case studies discussion will be carried out.
Communication skills. At the end of the course, the student will be able to develop and transfer information and concepts related to strategy analysis both to specialist and non-specialist.
Communication skills are verified through the final exam.
Learning skills. The course is aimed at developing student’s ability to broaden and deepen the knowledge acquired, both for coping with Master’s degree studies and for entering the field of business administration of high international companies.
Learning skills are acquired through individual study and case study discussion.
The course characterizes the Bachelor degree course in “Economics and business management”, curriculum “Business”. With reference to the related learning goals, the course hones the student’s ability to deal with strategy analysis.
